Verify patient has been cleared by anesthesiologist / doctor to proceed with application of Nuflow product.

Open sterilized Nuflow pouch in a sterile surgical field.
Insert male port of “Nuflow Product” into female high vacuum suction port. Turn on suction unit. Verify the Nuflow product is functioning correctly.
Verify patient is in correct position. Open patient’s mouth. Clamp patient’s tongue with gauze and pull tongue to the front of their mouth. Place the “Nuflow Absorbent Sponge” in the oropharynx, positioning it behind the soft palette at the base of the tongue. PROPER POSITIONING IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Place the “ORRINGER CHEEK RETRACTOR” into the patient’s mouth to secure the tubing in the vestibule. Secure the Nuflow tubing on the sides of the month by placing between the retractor and the cheek. This will secure the Nuflow product during surgery.
Verify the vacuum is functioning properly and proceed with surgery. Examine the Nuflow throat pack periodically. Maintain airway as in all procedures.
